Three and a half years in the making, Universal Destinations & Experiences and UCF officially announced a $10 million Pegasus Partnership to launch the Universal School of Experience Leadership & Innovation within the Rosen College of Hospitality Management on International Drive. The UCF Board of Trustees approved it unanimously on May 8 and it was publicly unveiled May 11. The deal includes a new Hospitality Technology Lab with a research focus on service robotics, augmented and virtual reality training tools, AI systems, and digital twins tied to guest experience design. Universal employs more than 32,000 people in Central Florida and over 70,000 globally — including more than 1,000 Rosen graduates.

The construction angle here is real. Theme park and resort development is one of the most complex and capital-intensive build environments in the state of Florida. Epic Universe alone took eight years to design and construct. The level of MEP coordination, specialty systems, theatrical infrastructure, and phased occupancy management on those projects is well beyond standard commercial work. A hospitality and tech program built explicitly around Universal's operational needs means the pipeline of designers, project owners, and facility managers flowing into that sector is going to be more sophisticated. That matters for every GC and specialty sub that works resort and entertainment projects.

UCF now has eight Pegasus Partnerships, but this is the first in tourism. The Rosen College is steps from Epic Universe on International Drive, which UCF president Alexander Cartwright said was intentional when the campus was originally sited in 2004. The university is also in the early stages of a $3.5 billion Go for Launch capital campaign, and this partnership is the first major deal since that campaign launched. Expect more announcements as UCF continues building out its regional anchor status.
